One Young World 2016 Summit

As part of the AstraZeneca Young Health Program (YHP) delegation, the Young Canadians Roundtable on Health (YCRH) and The Sandbox Project were given the opportunity to join YHP in hosting a breakout session at the Summit. The session’s focus was on the critical role youth can play in shaping health policy, particularly in the area of non-communicable disease prevention.

Delegates and panelists discuss the youth advocacy role in NCD prevention
Moderated by YCRH Chair Alyssa Frampton, this session welcomed a distinguished panel of youth advocates and senior Canadian politicians and policy makers:
- Mr. Irwin Elman, Provincial Advocate for Children and Youth of Ontario
- Dr. Kellie Leitch, MP, pediatric orthopedic surgeon and founder of The Sandbox Project
- Ms. Alicia Raimundo, youth mental health advocate and One Young World Ambassador
- Mr. Martin Reader, Canadian Olympian, Sandbox Project board director and co-founder of StriveLife
